Value Added Tax A. F. Brock & Co. Ltd. operates the Auctioneers' Scheme for VAT purposes. Therefore, VAT will not be charged on the hammer price, unless the lot number in the catalogue is marked with an asterisk. Any lot in the sale where the lot number is marked with an asterisk is subject to VAT at 17.5% for European Union buyers only, which will be added to the hammer price. Persons registered for VAT purposes may claim this back as input tax.
Buyers' Premium There will be a buyers' premium of 15% of the hammer price on all lots in this sale (eBay buyers premium is 20% to cover additional charges). This premium will be subject to VAT at 17.5% for European Union buyers only.
Bidders Bidders are required to register their particulars, including full name and address, prior to participation in the sale. Clients attending the sale will be required to obtain a bidding card from the registration desk. Absentee bidders are required to submit their bids by 5pm on the Monday prior to the sale. We cannot guarantee that absentee bids received after this time will be included.
Bidding Increments These are included for guidance only and are subject to the Auctioneer's discretion. £0 to £200.....£5, £200 to £400.....£10, £400 to £1000.....£20, £1000 to £4000.....£50, £4000+.....£100
Payment Payment can be made during the intervals and at the end of the sale and may be made by cash, cheque with guarantee card, cheque without guarantee card by prior arrangement, debit cards inc. Switch/Delta, all major credit cards (excluding American Express). Additionally absentee buyers may pay by bank transfer or PayPal. There will be an additional charge of 2.55% for credit cards and 4% for PayPal to cover processing fees. Bank transfers may also be subject to additional charges (please contact us for details if you choose this method of payment). These additional charges are subject to VAT for European Union buyers only. There will be no additional charge for debit cards. Buyers must pay for their goods within 10 days of the sale.
Abbreviations Some of the more commonly used abbreviations in this sale, are as follows:- AV - gold, AR - silver, AE - copper or bronze, obv. - obverse (side of coin etc. with head or main features), rev. - reverse (opposite side to obverse), g - grams & oz - troy ounces.

Letters "SG" followed by number, in brackets, refers to Stanley Gibbons stamp reference system. Letters "B" or "T" followed by number, in brackets, refers to Vincent Duggleby - English Paper Money, 6th Edition.
Directions The Acton Court Hotel and the Auctioneer's offices are both situated on the left hand side of the A6 road, heading south from Stockport town center towards Buxton and Macclesfield. There is adequate car parking facilities within the Hotel grounds. The Acton Court is approx. 10 minutes walk from Davenport train station and our offices are about the same distance from Hazel Grove train station. Both venues are on the 192 Bus route running from Manchester Piccadilly to Hazel Grove.
